With Japan’s Summer season just around the corner, there are a bunch of new anime shows that have just dropped or will be dropping soon for us to discover, watch, and fall in love with. We checked out which ones we think have the potential of becoming the next most-talked-about series (or already are). Check out our list below!
Kinsou no Vermeil (Vermeil In Gold)
Genre: Fantasy, Ecchi
Alto, on the verge of failing the summoning magic class and having to repeat the year, stumbles upon a grimoire and draws a magic circle, summoning the sealed demon Vermeil and making her his familiar. She has been a feared “devil” since ancient times and possesses tremendous power to cause disasters.
Vermeil, as a familiar, necessitates magical energy on a daily basis, which she obtains from Alto via passionate kisses. Lilia, Alto’s childhood friend, grows envious of their relationship, while the students are also taken aback by the unprecedented familiar. The royal road fantasy of a magician on the edge of failure and an unhealthy devil sister begins!
Isekai Ojisan (Uncle from Another World)
Genre: Comedy, Fantasy
In modern-day Japan, Takafumi Takaoka, a college student, picks up his uncle who recently awakened from a 17-year coma after being hit by a truck. Uncle shows the ability to use magic spells and explains that he was actually sent to another world. Takafumi lets his uncle move in with him, and they, joined by Takafumi’s childhood friend Sumika Fujimiya, spend days helping his uncle adjust to modern society while also watching his memories of the other world.
Yofukashi no Uta (Call Of The Night)
Genre: Romantic comedy, Supernatural
Unable to sleep or find true satisfaction in his daily life, Ko Yamori stops going to school and begins wandering the streets at night. He encounters a girl named Nazuna Nanakusa who is a vampire and shows Ko the joys of being a night-walker. This results in Ko wanting to be a vampire as well, but in order to achieve his goal, he has to fall in love with her first.
Soredemo Ayumu wa Yosetekuru (When Will Ayumu Make His Move?)
Genre: Romantic comedy, Slice of life
Ayumu Tanaka, a first-year high school student, and Urushi Yaotome, a second-year student, are members of the shogi club. Ayumu vows to confess his feelings to Urushi, his senpai, after he manages to defeat her in a game of shogi, but he is a beginner at the game and Urushi always beats him. Meanwhile, Urushi keeps trying to get Ayumu to admit that he likes her, but Ayumu never allows his poker face to slip.
The story begins when Berry, an average girl from an average home, meets Hack, a girl who looks like a boy. Charmed by Hack, Berry meets up with the team Hack leads, the Ghost Detectives Club. Members of this club are “socially dead,” working invisibly within the digitally controlled society of Tom Sawyer Island. As she works with the group, Berry learns about Phantom ZERO, a mysterious figure who lurks within Tom Sawyer’s underground. She and Hack decide to chase down this figure, and in time, the truth behind the city is revealed…
Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup
Yes, “Prince of Tennis” is making a comeback after 15 long years! “Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup” is set to cover the World Cup arc of the original manga. When tennis phenom Ryoma Echizen is kicked out of Japan’s elite U-17 training camp for breaking the rules, he’s despondent. But a stroke of good luck hits when he’s able to try out for the U.S. team. Proving himself against their hardened veterans isn’t going to be easy, and if he is accepted, he’ll have to play against his former friends.

Veyron City—a mega-floating metropolis created from the discovery of new energy sources.
Shuu, a young man who owns and operates a small business in the area, leads a meager life due to his reckless spending. Kisara, a girl who visits Shuu’s office and home because she is constantly concerned about him. She works while attending high school in Veyron City, doing everything from clerical work to housework. Ayano, Shuu’s ex-girlfriend and a senior colleague at the corporation he had previously worked for, is also worried about him.
Thus begins the slapstick romantic comedy of three people in a slightly unusual relationship that takes place on an artificial island in the Pacific Ocean.
Kami Kuzu☆Idol (Phantom of the Idol)
Genre: Comedy, Supernatural
Yuya Niyodo is an idol who debuted as one to earn easy money. When his manager was about to fire him for being unmotivated, he met the popular idol who died roughly one year ago, Asahi Mogami. Asahi, who is still lingering around the living world, loves being an idol so much. The two make an agreement that Asahi would possess Yuya during his idol activities.
Isekai Yakkyoku (Parallel World Pharmacy)
In his life-long obsession to develop new medicines to help people, Kanji Yakutani, a Japanese medical researcher, dies from overwork. To his immense surprise, he finds himself reborn in another world with medieval culture, in which proper medical treatments are an affordable privilege to the wealthy only. In his new life as Pharma de Médicis, he discovers that he has been granted a divine blessing, which is common with that world’s nobility, from Panactheos, the God of Medicine. With his divine blessing and his retained knowledge of modern medicine, Pharma decides to revolutionize the other world’s medical advancements and make proper treatments affordable for the common folk.
Takina Inoue, a self-confident high school girl working as a DA member of an all-female task force of assassins and spies known as “Lycoris” who are dispatched to eliminate criminals and terrorists in Tokyo, is sanctioned by her superiors for disobeying orders and transferred to work under the “elite” Lycoris agent Chisato Nishikigi at one of the agency’s branches, which operates under the cover of a cafe, called “LycoReco”. Initially put off by Chisato’s easygoing nature and preference to nonlethally subdue her foes, Takina has to learn how to get along with her new partner if she has any hope of being reinstated to her previous position.
Hoshi no Samidare (Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer)
Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama
Yuuhi Amamiya is a young, misanthropic college student who one day wakes up to find a lizard on his bed. The lizard explains that Yuuhi has been chosen as a Beast Knight, a magical warrior destined to help a Princess defeat a Mage seeking to destroy the world with a giant mallet floating in space called the Biscuit Hammer. While Yuuhi initially is not interested in getting involved, he changes his mind when he meets the Princess, Samidare Asahina, who tells him her intent to defeat the mage and save the world so she can destroy the world herself instead.
Kumichou Musume to Sewagakari (The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting)
Genre: Slice of Life
Tooru Kirishima is the right-hand man of the Sakuragi crime family. For him, the job is a perfect excuse to let his violent instincts run wild, earning him the nickname “The Demon of Sakuragi.” It seems like nothing will stand in the way of his vicious nature. But then one day, he receives an assignment like never before from the boss—babysitting his daughter!
