Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil may no longer be seen together in television shows and movies in the near future after ABS-CBN Film Production Inc. head Kriz Anthony Gazmen explained that the two are now going down different paths in terms of their careers.
In an interview with Inquirer Entertainment, Gazmen shared that although they pitched several projects to the onscreen tandem, “the timing was never right.”
“There was a time when we were already about to shoot something and then COVID-19 cases surged. Liza and Enrique were still afraid to go out then. There were a lot of back-and-forth discussions, up until we were supposed to do another one, and then Liza made the decision to change career direction,” he said.
“Liza and Enrique will now go their separate ways in terms of their careers. We recently met with Enrique, who is now ready to do projects on his own. We’re cooking something up for him. We still have offers for Liza, but a lot of things depend on what will happen to the projects she and James are working on at the moment. Hopefully, the timing will finally work out.”
Liza signed with Careless Music, an independent record label founded by James Reid, in June 2022 and is currently working on her debut Hollywood film “Lisa Frankenstein” directed by Zelda Williams, the daughter of the late Robin Williams, and starring “Riverdale” actor Cole Sprouse and “Big Little Lies” actress Kathryn Newton.
The last onscreen project that the real-life lovers did was the romantic-comedy series “Make It With You,” which was discontinued in 2020 during the first lockdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
