LILY, formerly known as Callalily, introduced its newest vocalist: Joshua Camacho Bulot.
Bulot was announced as the band’s vocalist after holding a national audition for the slot. LILY held the competition after former vocalist Kean Cipriano left the band in June.
Bulot was part of the trio JBK that competed in The X Factor UK in 2017. He was also part of the cast of the hit musical Rak of Aegis.
The new vocalist joins LILY band members Lem Belaro on drums and chief songwriting, Aaron Ricafrente on bass guitar, Nathan Reyes on rhythm and lead guitar, and Alden Acosta on lead guitar and backing vocals.
He said on Facebook, “Sana mameet ko lahat ng Callalily fans, ’cause I’m a fan, too. ‘Di ko kayo bibiguin.”
Kean Cipriano leaves Callalily
Cipriano told ABS-CBN, “It’s hard to stay in a place where you’re not happy anymore, where you’re uninspired, and where you don’t feel valued and respected. Hindi mo kasi matatago ‘yung pakiramdam na wala na ‘yung spark, ‘yung magic. Hindi na siya masaya.”
Cipriano added that he felt like he wasn’t growing anymore. He also spoke about the band name, saying, “You have to understand also that I came up with the name ‘Callalily’ and it’s under my intellectual property. ‘You can use the name,’ kasi lahat kami magkakasama sa journey. I was actually licensing the name to them. Sabi ko, ‘If you want to continue ‘yung Callalily, i-license ko sa inyo.’”
Licensing the name would come with a fee.

The other band members announced the same month that they are changing the name from Callalily to LILY. They said, “Magsimula na lang ulit sa simula dahil naagaw ka niya.”
LILY spoke more about the change of name in an official band statement. It said, “It is unfortunate that he no longer felt happy making music with the rest of us.”
The statement added, “The band members have always felt a sense of ownership over the name because of the fact that each of us represents the band and its music. And with the band running for almost 17 years, the Callalily brand that is known today was built not just by one person but by a collective whole.”
